2021: Gazprom Media - co-owner of Showcase TV
March 19, 2021 Gazprom-Media officially became a co-owner of a single platform for broadcasting television channels on the Internet "Showcase TV." This is evidenced by the data of the Unified State Register of Legal Entities.
According to Vedomosti, Gazprom Media received a 25 percent stake in a company that previously belonged to STS Media JSC. National Media Group JSC (NMG), TRK-1 JSC (owned by VGTRK holding) and Channel One Rights Library JSC retained their shares.
The Vitrina TV platform, as a single industrial solution, is cost-effective and meets the task of ensuring high-quality access to air channels in the digital environment and combating piracy, the Gazprom Media representative quoted the newspaper as saying. |
By March 22, 2021, the solutions of Vitrina TV are fully or partially integrated with more than 140 sites. 26 TV channels are connected to the platform.
Gazprom Media did not immediately support the project. Instead, the holding launched its TNT-Premier video service, where you can watch TNT series and other Gazprom Media entertainment channels by subscription.
Gazprom Media called Vitrina TV a "logical industrial decision," which contributes to the legal distribution of content and its protection from digital piracy, and also creates opportunities for additional monetization in the online environment.
The largest broadcasters are beginning to control their Internet audience, which means that the advertising going through this channel was told to Kommersant by the founder of the OTT service "Watch" Zharkyn Tursynov. The project "Showcase TV" becomes an analogue of two terrestrial multiplexes on the Internet, says Tursynov.
2019: Gazprom-Media plans to acquire Showcase TV
On February 6, 2019, Gazprom Media Holding announced that it would become one of the founders of the Showcase TV online broadcasting project, having received a 25% stake in it. Participation in Vitrina TV will protect copyright holders and increase the monetization of content, Gazprom Media said then[1][2]
