2025: Building a Company

The state corporation Rosatom has registered a new company Energoflot Murmansk for the construction of ships, ships and floating structures. This is evidenced by data from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, published in April 2025.

According to Interfax, Rosatom Machine-Building LLC, which is part of Rosatom State Corporation, became the owner of 100% shares in the authorized capital of Energoflot Murmansk LLC. The press service of Rosatom confirmed that the new organization was created as part of the study of the possibility of expanding the territory of FSUE Atomflot, including for the tasks of servicing floating power units.

Governor of the Murmansk Region Andrei Chibis in March 2025 announced plans to expand the infrastructure of Atomflot for the implementation of a large investment project, but did not specify specific details of this expansion.

Earlier, information was received about Rosatom's plans to create a shipyard specializing in floating power units in Murmansk near the Atomflot base. It is expected that investments in this project can reach up to ₽100 billion, and the start of construction is scheduled for 2027.

The technical implementation of the project will be carried out by Rosatom Machine-Building LLC, formerly known as Atomenergomash. According to available information, the final decision on the project is planned to be made in the spring of 2025.

FSUE Atomflot is located in Murmansk on the shore of the Kola Bay and acts as an operator of nuclear icebreakers in Russia. The company also has ship repair facilities and a specialized site for the management of nuclear fuel and radioactive waste.

The creation of the new company Energoflot Murmansk is a significant step in the implementation of Rosatom's strategic plans to develop shipbuilding facilities in the Arctic region of Russia and strengthen the position of the state corporation in the field of marine technology.[1]
