History

2024: Infinitum Special Depository became the first nominal holder of the CFA in Russia

On March 18, 2024, the specialized depository Infinitum became the first nominal holder of digital financial assets (CFA) in Russia. The transaction was carried out on the CFA Hub platform as part of the MTS ecosystem.

It is reported that the issue itself in the form of monetary claims in the amount of 10 million rubles and a circulation period of 62 days was placed on March 14, 2024. The issuer was Devices LLC (distributor of accessories for mobile devices and portable equipment), the buyer was the Progressive Investment Ideas management company. After the transfer of the asset, the nominal holder ("Infinitum"), on behalf of the owner, can perform operations with the CFA and provide services related to the receipt of income and payments under digital rights. In other words, the transfer of an asset enables the owner to no longer engage in operations on his own, but to give orders to the nominal holder.

As of mid-March 2024, 254 organizations with securities and digital rights worth more than 95 trillion rubles are included in the register of depositories of the Bank of Russia.

It is said that nominal holders can receive CFAs from their owners in the framework of secondary circulation and provide the entire range of related services: this is accounting for digital rights, receiving coupon payments and value upon repayment, further purchase and sale on customer instructions. In addition, depositories can independently act in the CFA market as an investor.[1]
