The main goals of the institution are:

• meeting the educational and professional needs of the society in the professional development of teachers and (or) scientists, ensuring compliance of their qualifications with the changing conditions of professional activity and social environment;
• organization and conduct of advanced training and professional retraining;
• conducting fundamental, applied and exploratory scientific research in order to implement state policy in the field of education, scientific and scientific and technical activities;
• dissemination of knowledge among specialists and broad groups of the population, improvement of their educational and cultural level;
• comprehensive research and development of information technologies and telecommunications in the field of education, scientific, scientific, technical and innovative activities;
• development and use of promising information technologies, telecommunications;
• creation of a single scientific and technical information and telecommunication space;
• creation of new forms of education development for children and young people aimed at satisfying their individual needs for intellectual improvement, formation and development of their creative abilities, as well as at organizing their free time, ensuring their adaptation to life in society, professional adaptation;
• functioning as a federal coordinator of the network of centers for continuous improvement of professional skills of teachers in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation;
• carrying out the functions of a center for continuous improvement of professional skills of teachers.

History

2023: Agreement with VK to jointly train professionals in innovation and education

On February 17, 2023, VK and the Academy of the Ministry of Education of Russia entered into a cooperation agreement. The parties will work to create training programs and projects for teachers and education specialists, as well as promote the development of digital education in the country. Among the immediate joint plans of VK and the Academy of the Ministry of Education are the launch of courses on digital tools, work with content and the development of educational communities, as well as a series of live broadcasts for teachers.

The agreement was signed by Director for the Development of School and Youth Projects VK Sergey Mardanov and Rector of the Academy of the Ministry of Education of Russia Pavel Kuzmin.

Within the framework of the agreement, VK and the Academy will work in a number of areas, including organizing training for specialists from the field of education and developing functional services for the Academy. The interaction of the parties will allow thousands of teachers throughout the country to become participants in the discussion of topical issues in the field of education. In addition, VK services and technologies will help develop methodological activities and build effective communication between teachers - and in order for the application of these solutions to be as effective as possible, they will conduct training master classes and other events.

The Academy, as the main assistant teacher, closely monitors modern services that can make the teacher's work more convenient and efficient. It is symbolic that in the year of the teacher and mentor we give the start of cooperation with VK - one of the domestic IT companies, the tools of which open up additional opportunities for teachers. I am confident that cooperation will allow a large circle of professionals to participate in the discussion of topical issues, contribute to the development of methodological activities and the construction of effective communication without borders. Ahead of us is a joint work in a number of areas, including the development of joint advanced training programs and the cross-integration of services, technologies and methods, "said Pavel Kuzmin, rector of the Academy of the Ministry of Education of Russia.

Since July 2021, acting Director of the Academy of the Ministry of Education is headed by Pavel Kuzmin, who moved to this position from the post of Director of the Department of Digital Transformation and Big Data of the Ministry of Education.
