Development of load testing methodology for ERP systems

The autonomous non-profit organization "National Competence Center for Holding Management Information Systems" has developed a methodology for load testing of domestic RMS (ERP). At the next stage, within the framework of interaction with Russian manufacturers of RMS, ANO NCC ISU will direct its efforts to popularize it. This will make its use a standard when creating and developing domestic ERPs. Rb this ANO "NCC ISU" reported on August 8, 2025.

NCC ISU attracted technical and business architects with deep expertise in the implementation of large-scale IT projects to participate in the creation of a methodology for load testing of Russian resource management systems.

When developing the document, specialists relied on proven industry approaches to the implementation of solutions in the largest companies in, bank, and oil and gas. metallurgical transport industries

They also focused on the results of large-scale load tests, including testing the 1C:ERP Enterprise Management system for 30 thousand simultaneously working users in a single information base on DBMS PostgreSQL from 1C under management. Linux In addition, the creators of the methodology conducted an active dialogue with specialized experts and specialists of organizations specializing in testing equipment and system ON leading Russian manufacturers.

{{quote "For participants of load testing, the methodology will become a tool for rapid learning of the principles of this process and its organization, will provide them with transparency of tests and technical characteristics of Russian RMS, will make it possible to control testing and reproduce its results. Also, the use of the document during the tests will allow them to adhere to a single agreed approach and objectively check the readiness of domestic ERPs for real loads and high business requirements. Such an assessment is necessary for Russian RMS vendors to create sound development roadmaps, successfully compete with foreign ERP manufacturers, increase customer confidence, gain additional advantages when participating in tenders and achieve other important goals, "said Kirill Semion, General Director of ANO NCC ISU. }}

The created methodology is universal, practical-oriented, comprehensive, adapted to the realities of the Russian IT market and allows you to standardize testing of domestic RMS. This is its uniqueness. The document describes the necessary conditions for the start of tests, defines the quantitative and qualitative parameters of the test objects, provides a clear algorithm for its implementation, documentation templates and test evaluation criteria.

The methodology also describes the key stages of testing. The first stage is the creation of a load profile, during which user activity is analyzed and critical scenarios for working with the system are determined. The second is the preparation of a test environment that is as close as possible to the real infrastructure. The third is the creation of test scenarios that reflect real user behavior and key business processes. The fourth is the conduct of the tests themselves with the recording of performance indicators and resource use. The fifth stage is to identify problems, prepare analytical reports and recommendations for optimization.

In addition, the methodology provides measures of test success: the APDEX index for key operations, set thresholds for equipment load, the absence of critical errors, the proportion of non-critical errors, which should not exceed 1-5% of the total number of operations. Other sections of the document contain information on the conditions and procedures for acceptance of the results of actions performed during testing, the existing restrictions that affect the conduct of tests.

We plan to develop the methodology taking into account the real needs of business and IT companies. We will update the load parameters, taking into account the industry specifics, the scale of the infrastructure and new architectural solutions. The set of test scenarios will expand with industry cases that reflect the real business processes of corporate customers. Functional coverage of the methodology will become deeper in accordance with the development of software products and new tasks of digital transformation of enterprises, - said Kirill Semion, General Director of ANO NCC ISU.

This approach of the organization to methodology development will allow it to maintain high relevance of the document in the long term and the possibility of using the methodology to test a wide range of IT solutions, regardless of the technology platform or scale of implementation.

Development of the first risk insurance policy for the transition from foreign ERP systems to Russian

In early June 2025, ANO "National Competence Center for Holding Management Information Systems" (NCC ISU) announced the development of the first insurance policy in Russia that covers risks when switching from foreign ERP systems to domestic software solutions. The maximum insured amount will be ₽1,5 billion - these funds are intended to compensate for the possible losses of all participants in the implementation project. This was announced by the general director of the NCC ISU Kirill Semion.

According to RBC, the initiative is being implemented by order of the NCC ISU together with the Association of Computer and Information Technology Enterprises. The insurance product is developed with the participation of the VSK insurance house. The policy provides financial protection against a number of potential threats, including external cyber attacks, data protection violations, as well as errors made by personnel that could lead to information leaks or system failures.

The document also covers the risks associated with technical failures during the software implementation phase, as well as the responsibility of suppliers to customers for the correct configuration and operation of ERP systems. According to the terms, the policy compensates for the costs of eliminating the consequences of information security incidents, including the costs of auditing and restoring the IT infrastructure, and also provides legal protection for the customer's management team from possible legal claims from third parties.

Kirill Semion said that this insurance mechanism is the first solution of its kind on the Russian market. He added that the main customers will be enterprises with a high degree of automation of production processes and a complex IT infrastructure. Semion also admitted that if successfully implemented, the product can be adapted to protect other IT projects, including the introduction of domestic automated process control systems.

Olga Sorokina, a member of the board of directors of the VSK insurance house, said that a new type of policy would avoid delaying disputes between project participants in case of incidents. According to her, the unified insurance mechanism applies immediately to the customer, integrator and developer, simplifying the settlement process and reducing legal and financial risks.[1]

Where is the ERP market moving in Russia in 2025

Kirill Semion, General Director of ANO "National Competence Center for Holding Management Information Systems" (NCC ISU)

The Russian market for ERP systems, which grew by 15-20% in 2024, has stabilized. The high key rate and personnel deficit will slow down the start of new projects. However, the market is changing qualitatively - the requirements of business customers take on understandable outlines, alternative vendors are actively increasing the business functionality of their products.

Historically, large businesses in Russia focused on foreign resource management systems. The solutions of domestic vendors were mainly applied by small and medium-sized businesses. Now the situation has changed, but it is quite difficult to quickly scale Russian systems for large companies. Therefore, we are making every effort to ensure that the RMS appears in the country in the near future, "said Kirill Semion, General Director of ANO NCC ISU.
