2024: The company's employees were arrested in the case of embezzlement of 2.8 billion rubles for the creation of an IT electricity accounting system in Dagestan

Employees of Rosseti North Caucasus were arrested in the case of embezzlement of 2.8 billion rubles for the creation of an IT electricity accounting system in Dagestan. The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation announced this on April 12, 2024.

According to law enforcement agencies, the attackers conducted illegal activities for several years. They committed violations when creating a comprehensive electricity accounting system in Dagestan with automated data collection, for which budget funds were allocated. Dagenergo subscribers were supposed to install meters to transmit data on electricity consumed, but the project was never implemented.

As part of the investigation of this case, nine searches were carried out in the places of residence and work of members of an organized criminal group (organized criminal group) in the Moscow region, Dagestan, the Karachay-Cherkess Republic and the Stavropol Territory.

According to the investigation, both former and current employees of Rosseti North Caucasus, a branch of Dagenergo and a number of contracting companies were members of the organized crime group. Nine people in the case were detained and then arrested. They were charged under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code (fraud committed by an organized group or on an especially large scale). The maximum punishment for it is 10 years in prison.

The message published in the official Telegram channel of PJSC Rosseti North Caucasus states that eight of the nine detainees are not employees of the organization, and the episodes that are imputed to the detainees relate to the period of their work in the contractor.

Earlier in April 2024, the director of Dagenergo Magomedhabib Mukhumaev was arrested, who is involved in the case of embezzlement of 2.8 billion rubles belonging to PJSC Rosseti and IDGC of the North Caucasus. PJSC Rosseti North Caucasus clarified that this case is not related to the work of Mukhamaev as director of the Dagenergo branch^[1]
