The Federal State Budgetary Institution "Caucasian State Natural Biosphere Reserve named after H.G. Shaposhnikov," founded in 1924, is today the largest in terms of territory and a specially protected natural object in the North Caucasus. In 1999, the reserve was included in the UNESCO World Natural Heritage List. It is located within three constituent entities of the Russian Federation - the Krasnodar Territory, the Republic of Adygea and the Karachay-Cherkess Republic. More than 180 people work in the state of the reserve, structurally included in the scientific, security and environmental education departments.

History

2026: Appointment of Vladimir Titov as Director

Vladimir Titov was appointed Acting Director of the Kh. Shaposhnikov Caucasian State Natural Biosphere Reserve. This was reported in January 2026 in the press service of the National Park. Titov has been working in the field of ecology and nature protection since 2017, and since 2023 he has served as first deputy director of the Sochi National Park. The new director replaced Sergei Shevelev in this position, who resigned. The order to dismiss him was signed by the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Russian Federation Alexander Kozlov. Read more here
