The Institute of Slavic Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences (ISL RAS), which is part of the Department of historian Philological Sciences, RAS is the only Russia scientific institution engaged in a comprehensive study of the history, cultures literature and languages ​ ​ of foreign Slavic peoples.

History

2018: Transfer to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation

In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation of May 15, 2018 No. 215 "On the Structure of Federal Executive Bodies" and the Order of the Government of the Russian Federation of June 27, 2018 No. 1293-r, the Institute was transferred to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.

2013: Transfer to the Federal Agency of Scientific Organizations

In accordance with the Federal Law of September 27, 2013 No. 253-FZ "On the Russian Academy of Sciences, the reorganization of state academies of sciences and amendments to certain legislative acts of the Russian Federation" and the Order of the Government of the Russian Federation of December 30, 2013 No. 2591-r, the Institute was transferred to the jurisdiction of the Federal Agency for Scientific Organizations.

2011: Renaming to FSBUN Institute of Slavic Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences

By the Decree of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences of December 13, 2011 No. 262, the name of the Institute was changed from the Institution of the Russian Academy of Sciences of the Institute of Slavic Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences to the Federal State Budgetary Institution of Science Institute of Slavic Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

2007: Renaming to the Institution of the Russian Academy of Sciences Institute of Slavic Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences

In accordance with the decree of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences of December 18, 2007 No. 274, the Institute was renamed the Institution of the Russian Academy of Sciences Institute of Slavic Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

1997: Renaming to the Institute of Slavic Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences

In accordance with the decree of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences of December 26, 1997 No. 214, the Institute was renamed the Institute of Slavic Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

1991: Inclusion in the RAS

In accordance with the Decree of the President of the RSFSR of November 21, 1991 No. 228, the Institute of Slavic Studies and Balkanism of the USSR Academy of Sciences became part of the Russian Academy of Sciences as the Institute of Slavic Studies and Balkanism of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

1968: Renaming to the Institute of Slavic Studies and Balkanism of the USSR Academy of Sciences

In accordance with the decree of the Presidium of the USSR Academy of Sciences of October 11, 1968 No. 740, the Institute was renamed the Institute of Slavic Studies and Balkanism of the USSR Academy of Sciences.

1946: Establishment of the Institute of Slavic Studies of the USSR Academy of Sciences

The Institute was created in accordance with the decree of the Presidium of the USSR Academy of Sciences of September 20, 1946 Protocol No. 23 as the Institute of Slavic Studies of the USSR Academy of Sciences.
