2025: Nanotronics bought 51% of Optical Technologies LLC

Group of companies "Element," the largest Russian manufacturer of microelectronics, acquired a controlling stake in the developer of laser systems "Optical Technologies." The subsidiary of "Element" - the company "Nanotronics" - bought 51% of the shares of the Novosibirsk company specializing in the creation of lasers for the production of microcircuits. The amount of the transaction, according to experts, could range from several hundred million to ₽1,5 billion. This became known in August 2025.

According to CNews, the fact of the acquisition is confirmed by data from the Kontur.Focus database. "Optical Technologies" gained fame after the creation in May 2025 of an import-substituting laser system for printing templates using ultraviolet radiation in the manufacture of microcircuits. The company has developed a 257 nanometer alternative to the American Coherent lasers.

Representatives of "Optical Technologies" stated that there are no analogues of the created system in Russia due to the narrow specialization of such lasers. At the time of the announcement of the development, the company created a pre-production prototype for testing at the Belarusian enterprise Planar. The technology is aimed at reducing the dependence of the Russian microelectronic industry on foreign suppliers.

The author of the Telegram channel RUSmicro Aleksei Boyko suggested that the deal is mixed and only partially monetary. In his opinion, a significant part of the payment may be a share in Nanotronics JSC or options tied to achieving certain performance indicators, including entering mass production of the laser.

General Director of Nanotronics Yulia Sukhoroslova previously explained the company's tasks as consolidating the resources of the Element group and market assets to create industrial installations. The goal is to subsequently convert the developments into a ready-made line of equipment for microelectronic production.[1]
