2023: "Steppe" became the owner of the joint venture "Guardsman"
In mid-April 2023, agroholding, a member of AFK, SystemSteppe bought SP Guardeets LLC in the Stavropol Territory, which manages about 26 thousand hectares of land worth about 2.9 billion rubles. Prior to that, the enterprise was owned by the local Vozrozhdenie LLC AGRARIAN AND INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX. In "Steppe" confirmed "" To the businessman the fact of the transaction, but did not give detailed comments.
Sovekon director Andrei Sizov called the purchase price "good, taking into account the high rainfall for the region, up to 600 mm per year." According to him, agricultural land in the south of Russia is of greatest interest to potential buyers. Dmitry Rylko, general director of the Institute for Agricultural Market Studies (ICAR), noted that the agricultural sector in the south of Russia successfully combines proximity to export grain markets and high productivity of arable land, so the demand for agricultural land in these regions was and remains high. Managing Director of BEFL Vladislav Novoselov notes that the climatic conditions of Stavropol allow growing a fairly wide range of crops, rarely drying of harvested crops is required. The region is also provided with storage facilities and qualified personnel, which has been especially important in recent years.
General Director of Prozern Vladimir Petrichenko noted that the expansion of the land bank will allow Steppe to increase shipments of its own grain and legumes. As early as next season in 2023, Russian grain exports are planned to stop Cargill, Viterra and Louis Dreyfus, which could weaken competition among exporters.
"Steppe" grows cereals, legumes, oilseeds, is engaged in milk production, horticulture, and food trade. Taking into account RZ Agro (the group is engaged in grain production) controls 578,000 hectares in southern Russia, this is the sixth place among the largest owners of agricultural land according to the BEFL.[1]
