Penza-GSM

The license of the State Committee on Communications of the Russian Federation for provision of services of digital cellular communication of the GSM standard in the range of 900 MHz in the Penza region is provided to the company in September, 1997. In the territory of the region the network is brought into official commercial operation in March, 1999. Since November, 2001 services of digital cellular communication are provided in two ranges — 900 MHz and 1800 MHz.

The company provides services of cellular radio telephone communication and a broad spectrum of additional services, offers the subscribers of tariff plans most of which fully satisfy all needs of subscribers.

In January, 2015 MTS announced acquisition of three "subsidiaries" of the SMARTS mobile operator which is based in Samara. It is about Penza-GSM, SMARTS Ivanovo and SMARTS Ufa companies. Total amount of the corresponding transactions was 3.13 billion rubles taking into account a net debt, necessary permissions from the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) are already got. Acquired companies service several hundred thousands of subscribers. Thanks to purchase of these MTS companies received an additional frequency resource for the GSM standard in the respective regions. So, in the Penza region SMARTS owns frequency bands 15 MHz wide in the range of 1800 MHz and 6 MHz in the range of 900 MHz, In the Ivanovo region SMARTS has frequency bands 14 MHz wide in the range of 1800 MHz and 10 MHz in the range of 900 MHz, in Bashkortostan – a band 14.6 MHz wide in the range of 1800 MHz.
