2025: Element bought 50% of MIPT Telecom
The Element Group of Companies, a developer and manufacturer of microelectronics, completed the acquisition of 50% of MIPT Telecom LLC, a subsidiary of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT), which provides Internet provider services in Dolgoprudny near Moscow. This became known on January 20, 2025.
According to Vedomosti, the company acquired shares in stages: the first 36% were bought in August 2024, then in November 2024 the package was increased to 50%. The deal was preceded by a joint venture agreement concluded in the summer of 2024.
With the entry of Element into the shareholders, the company will change its direction of activity and focus on designing solutions for manufacturers of telecommunications equipment using the domestic electronic component base.
Alexander Abrahamyan, head of the department for work with wealthy clients of Alfa Capital, noted that solutions based on Russian components will be in demand by manufacturers of base stations for the development of technological sovereignty.
"Element" interacts with leading Russian technical universities through the creation of joint ventures, which allows us to combine the scientific potential of universities with the production expertise of the group, - said the representative of the company. |
Deputy Director of the NTI Competence Center for big data MSU Sergei Trostyansky pointed out the rarity of such transactions when Russian universities sell shares in their companies. In his opinion, such transactions allow universities to prove the demand for their developments.
Dean of the Faculty of Technological Management and Innovation of ITMO University Andrei Anfinogenov noted that universities need experience in corporate governance and financial analytics to implement such projects.[1]
