2023: Opening of postgraduate recruitment on the subject of distributed registries
The Blockchain Department of the Fiztech School of Applied Mathematics and Informatics (FPMI) of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology opens the first recruitment to graduate school on the topic of distributed registers. Postgraduate studies will be the first state curriculum in Russia, which is fully devoted to blockchain direction. The basic organization of the department is the scientific center "Idea." Representatives of the department reported this on August 2, 2023.
One of the main factors that influenced the decision to launch graduate school was the growing demand from the Russian business community, which needs highly qualified blockchain specialists.
Industrial partners of our department offer students complex applied and research tasks in the field of blockchain, located at the intersection of several disciplines: mathematics, computer science, economics and even sociology. To solve many of them, very high-level specialists are needed. It is precisely such personnel capable of performing comprehensive research, both fundamental and applied, that our graduate school will prepare, "said Vladimir Gorgadze, head of the MIPT blockchain department, co-founder of the Atomyze tokenization platform and Newity IT company. |
During the existence of the department, the annual recruitment for the program was increased from 5 to 20 people, partnerships were established with companies using blockchain technologies in their projects. In 2022, the blockchain master's degree became the state curriculum, which began issuing non-replaceable NFT tokens for master's degrees. In 2023, three graduates of the program received red diplomas.
The master's degree of the Blockchain Department of the FPMI MIPT demonstrated the high quality and demand for the education received by students. The preparation of candidates of sciences is the next logical step in the development of the department. Business tasks in the field of blockchain are becoming more complicated, and after them the development of blockchain technology itself is necessary. These are often no longer just technological tasks, but to a greater extent scientific. To solve them, the formation of a scientific environment is necessary. In the scientific center "Idea," research in the field of distributed registry technologies is being carried out within the framework of the Blockchain Technology Laboratory "ChainLab," said Tagir Aushev, scientific director of the scientific center "Idea," doctor of physics and mathematics. sciences, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences. |
The training will be held on the basis of the Fiztech School of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science within the framework of the group of scientific specialties "Computer Science and Computer Science."
The opening of a graduate school at the Blockchain Department of the FPMI MIPT will allow young scientists in the field of blockchain to create a new competence center at Fiztech and focus on the development of technologies in the field of distributed systems that will help move science in this direction and participate in global government projects. MIPT has always been one of the educational centers for such purposes, - said Andrei Mikhailovich Raigorodsky, director of the Fiztech School of Applied Mathematics and Informatics. |
I really did not want to lose touch with research and academic fields. My master's degree training gave me systemic and up-to-date knowledge of modern blockchains. I liked the fact that the program included a large list of disciplines, the understanding of which is mandatory for workers in the subject area. In addition to academic disciplines, I also want to note the teaching staff, where everyone is an expert in his direction. In graduate school, I plan to take a topic at the junction of interesting and relevant directions for me data science and blockchain and study the technologies of graph neural networks in relation to important problems for the technology of distributed registers. |
2020: Discovery of the R&D Laboratory for the Development of Artificial Intelligence Technologies
On March 5, 2020, Huawei Russian informed TAdviser that the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) and the Russian Research Institute Huawei (Huawei Russian Research Institute) have created a joint laboratory for research and development in the field of artificial intelligence and deep learning.
This format of cooperation will allow us to combine the experience and efforts of the academic community and leading industry experts to develop breakthrough technologies and create the most modern, convenient and advanced devices. As of March 2020 Huawei , she opened joint laboratories in 10 the Russian educational institutions and scientifically research institutes. The created laboratory in partnership with MIPT will be another important step towards the development of the scientific and educational ecosystem. Russia
The priority areas of collaboration within this laboratory will be:
- Development, and neural network algorithms computer vision machine learning ; artificial intelligence
- Development of methods for computational photography and image improvement using mathematical modeling and advanced algorithms;
- Solving mathematically complex problems in the field of creating simultaneous search and positioning algorithms.
The Physics and Mathematics School of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science occupies a leading position in the country in terms of training in mathematics and information technology, largely due to the productive connection of the academy and industry. We are always open to cooperation, ready to solve interesting and ambitious tasks from partners. As of March 2020, FPMI, together with Huawei, are already developing more than five different projects, and this number will only increase. In the future, we aim to create a department in partnership with Huawei and to develop science in the appropriate direction, said Andrey Raigorodsky, director of the Fiztech School of Applied Mathematics and Informatics at MIPT
|
The creation of joint laboratories is Huawei's investment in the development of the Russian scientific and educational ecosystem. MIPT is our long-standing partner both in the field of scientific research and in the conduct of educational programs. We are focused on long-term cooperation and intend to help the institute with the training of specialists in the field of deep machine learning and computer vision. Within the framework of this laboratory, we will share the most relevant and difficult tasks that the global ICT industry is facing. This will allow Russian scientists to engage in fundamental research and development of the most advanced technologies, as well as become world-class specialists without the need to leave Russia. It is important that students and graduate students will have the opportunity to integrate the topics and content of their scientific work with the research areas of the laboratory. Also, within the framework of the cooperation program, it is planned to hold joint scientific events - conferences, seminars and open lectures, |
2019: Opening a laboratory with Yandex for research in the field of computer science
On December 9, 2019, the Fiztech School of Applied Mathematics and Informatics of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology announced the opening, together with Yandex, of a laboratory that will engage in research in the field of computer science. The laboratory will work on the development of machine learning technologies, computer vision, information search, recommendation systems, natural language processing and machine translation.
Laboratory staff will engage in research with an eye to publishing articles at leading world scientific conferences. The scientific work will be led by specialists from the Yandex research division led by MIPT graduate Artyom Babenko. They will share their experience and knowledge with aspiring researchers.
Students and graduate students of Fiztech and other universities can get to the laboratory. To do this, they need to pass a selection, which consists of several test tasks and an interview. Laboratory employees will receive salaries, so they can devote all their time to science.
"Cooperation between Yandex and MIPT has been going on for more than 10 years, and I am glad that we are developing it and opening a laboratory. As part of the Educational Initiative, Yandex has launched more than 30 projects and services, and working with students and graduate students is one of the important areas for us. There are many graduates of Fiztech working in Yandex: the combination of fundamental training with a research mindset makes them good specialists, " |
"Fiztech has identified six priority areas for himself, the key of which is artificial intelligence and machine learning. In this area, we work with leading companies and developers of the Russian Federation. We are glad that not just another laboratory is opening, but a laboratory that will develop technologies not today, but tomorrow in the field of machine learning, " noted Nikolai Kudryavtsev, rector of MIPT |
"New departments and laboratories are constantly opening in FPMI: both from the Academy of Sciences and from technology companies. In 2019, the basic department of the Mathematical Institute named after V.A. Steklova RAS and four laboratories. Yandex is our longtime key partner, which already has a strong data analysis department at FPMI. The arrival of Yandex's research unit at the School is an important event, " noted Andrey Raigorodsky, director of FPMI |
Yandex's research division is engaged in applied research in the fields of computer science that Yandex uses in its products and services. First of all, these are search, speech, machine translation and computer vision technologies. Since the beginning of 2019, the employees of the division have published 16 scientific papers at leading world conferences on machine learning and artificial intelligence.
