2021: Attraction of 500 million rubles of financing from Vladimir Potanin

On February 10, 2021 Interros announced that the owner of the company Vladimir Potanin allocated 500 million rubles of own funds for creation of laboratory of programmable functional materials under the leadership of the Nobel Prize laureate on physics of 2010 Konstantin Novosyolov. Within this project developed based on the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) "smart materials" using which emergence of conceptual new technologies will become possible will be developed.

In laboratory materials with the programmable properties which are not found in the nature will be created. They can be applied to creation of new methods of studying of a brain and development of interfaces between the computer and the person. Also developments of laboratory can become element base for future neyromorfny computers using which it is possible to create supersensitive sensors for studying of a human brain.

For the first five years of work of laboratory it is going to pass a way from creation of the first simplest devices on the basis of two-dimensional materials (from them the decanter is most widespread and popular) before physical simulation of neural communication, to pass to creation of hardverny network.

We live during an era of artificial intelligence, emergence of new, absolutely fantastic materials and technologies, and it is very important that in this strategic direction of science Russia remained in the forefront. Thereby we create an important backlog on the future for our country and Russians. Future generations will be able to realize the gained new knowledge in technology for real economy — Vladimir Potanin whose words are cited by the press service of Interros said.

It is noted that Novoselov's laboratory based on MIPT — the first project of the Center of studying of a brain and consciousness under the leadership of other Russian scientist-physicist, the corresponding member of RAS Tagir Aushev.^[1]
