2024: CEO sentenced to 9 years in prison for bribes

On December 2, 2024, the Presnensky District Court of Moscow issued a verdict against the former general director of RZM-Technology JSC (part of Rostec), ex-deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Novosibirsk Region Yuri Zozuli. He received nine years in prison for bribes.

The enterprise "RZM-Technologies," which was headed by Zozulya, is implementing a project to develop a domestic electron beam tomograph. In addition to Zozuli, the general director of the FKP "Plant named after Ya. M. Sverdlov" Yuri Shumsky, as well as his first deputy Oleg Korpatenkov, were in the dock. According to the investigation, the defendants received kickbacks when concluding contracts from suppliers of components for the production of explosives, as well as from representatives of companies that purchased FKP products at inflated prices.

The defendants were initially charged with particularly large-scale fraud (part 4 of p. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), however, then Zozule was blamed for two episodes of receiving a bribe on an especially large scale and abuse of office by a person holding public office (part 6 of article 290 and part 3 of article 285 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), and two other defendants - mediation in bribery on an especially large scale (part 4 of article 291.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The prosecution demanded that Zozula be appointed by partial addition of sentences for certain episodes, a punishment of 17 years in a maximum security colony, but the sentence turned out to be milder.

The court determined Zozule punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of 9 years with serving in a maximum security correctional colony. Shumsky received 8 years in a strict regime colony, Korpatenkov - 5 years. According to the Kommersant newspaper, no fines were imposed on those convicted, which "is quite rare when sentencing in corruption cases."^[1]

2022: Arrest of general director Yuri Zozuli in the case of large bribes

In September 2022, the Savelovsky District Court of Moscow arrested Yuri Zozulya for two months. The General Director of RZM-Technologiya JSC (part of the Rostec Group of Companies) is accused of bribery in an especially large amount. Read more here.
