2026: Nationalization

At the end of January 2026, the Oktyabrsky District Court of Krasnodar turned into state revenue the sanatoriums "Hot Key" and "Foothills of the Caucasus." The decision was made at the suit of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation against Sochi businessman Vigen Sargsyan and 18 individuals and legal entities affiliated with him.

Goryachiy Klyuch is one of the oldest and most famous balneological sanatoriums in the Krasnodar Territory. It is located in an environmentally friendly location in Hot Key. The institution specializes in the treatment of diseases of the digestive system, nervous system, skin, musculoskeletal system, upper respiratory tract, endocrine system, circulatory system, etc. The cottage complex of the sanatorium offers comfortable houses, an open-air pool, a relaxation area for tanning, a bath module, a barbecue area with a barbecue and gazebos for relaxation.

Sanatoriums "
Hot Key" and "Foothills of the Caucasus" were nationalized in Russia

In turn, the sanatorium "Foothills of the Caucasus," also located in Goryachy Klyuch, is a health resort specializing in the therapy of a wide range of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, musculoskeletal system, as well as the genitourinary, nervous and cardiovascular systems using local mineral waters and mud. On the territory of the sanatorium there is a spa complex, a bowling club, a billiard hall, a children's room, a swimming pool, a beauty salon, etc.

Both sanatoriums were nationalized as part of the execution of an earlier court decision on compensation for damage caused to the Russian Federation and the municipality of the resort city of Sochi. It was established that Sargsyan and a number of other businessmen illegally built several residential complexes along the Black Sea coast in the Adler region. The prosecutor's office estimated the damage at 4.2 billion rubles, while environmental harm exceeded 1.9 billion rubles.[1]
