On August 17, 2021, Russian Post announced the creation of a subsidiary of Post Service, which will be responsible for servicing the IT infrastructure of the federal postal operator - mainly in the regions.

It is assumed that the staff of Post Service will reach 3,600 employees by the end of 2021, including those transferred from the regions, other divisions and hired additionally. Yevgeny Novikov, who previously held senior positions at Lukoil-inform, RCNTEC and Voskhod Research Institute, was appointed general director of the new company.

Russian Post has formed Post Service to service its IT infrastructure

By August 17, 2021, partially regional contractors, partially employees of various departments of the Russian Post, are engaged in servicing computer equipment, video cameras, access systems, bank terminals, cash registers, etc. Post Service will take over this work, so Russian Post hopes to reduce the cost of supporting IT infrastructure by 15-20%.

Post Service will take over the operation of information systems, as well as all the final equipment of Russian Post, which amounts to about 900 thousand units of equipment. The subsidiary will also serve all Russian Post IT systems as the first line of technical support and support back-office systems.

In addition, we expect to significantly reduce the total cost of ownership of IT infrastructure and endpoints. In the future, it is also planned to enter the external service market and compete with existing players, "said Vladimir Savkin, Deputy General Director of Russian Post for Information Technologies and the Development of Digital Services.[1]
