Russian Post has removed a new office for its programmers

Russian Post will unite the St. Petersburg branch of PostTech under one roof. Most of the branch's specialists - 200 developers, analysts and support staff - of the St. Petersburg branch of PochtaTeha will move to the Avenue Page co-working space on Aptekarskaya Embankment, occupying three floors in it. The move will take place from May to September 2020.

PochtaTech is based in Moscow, and the Petersburg branch is its only additional branch, TAdviser said in the Russian Post. So far, this branch is distributed across three offices: two in St. Petersburg and one in Pushkin. The company will retain the latter after moving to a new office - for the convenience of developers.

Most of the specialists of the St. Petersburg branch of PochtaTeha will move from May to September 2020 to the Avenue Page co-working space on Aptekarskaya Embankment, according to the Russian Post.

The need to move most of the specialists of the St. Petersburg branch of PochtaTeha has long been ripe, and there are several reasons for it, the company says. The first is communication. The second is household.

File:Aquote1.png
For some time now, it's time for teams to move to a more modern and technological office. In the new coworking area, employees will work in much more comfortable conditions: from the interior to free coffee-point zones and open-air lounge areas, the Russian Post assures.
File:Aquote2.png

In more comfortable conditions, developers on average create a better product, says Sergey Emelchenkov, deputy general director of Russian Post, noting that this dependence is well known in the IT industry. In addition, the modern office will speed up the hiring of qualified engineers, he is sure.

File:Aquote1.png
The Petersburg PochtaTeha team is working on the most important projects of the company: it develops innovative services for customers, internal services for Pochta employees, and automates logistics systems. The main implemented projects - the site of "Russian Post," a mobile application and its new functions, a service for handing over parcels using a simple electronic signature, e-mail, digital fulfillment systems - are told in "Russian Post"
File:Aquote2.png

The cost of renting co-working space for PochtaTech will be 4.5 million rubles a month, the Russian Post reported.

In the new coworking office, PochtaTech implements a hybrid model for organizing a workspace: it will have fixed workplaces for one part of the developers and internal coworking with free spaces for those who do not want to appear in the office so often.

Coworking is located in a convenient place. Around the developed infrastructure: shops, cafes, hotel, parking. The co-working space has a functional interior and a modern interior, and it also has a conference room and meeting rooms, the company notes.

In addition to the activities of the developers, hackathons of the company and the exchange of ideas with startups and partners will also be held on the territory of the new office.

The cost of renting co-working space for PochtaTech will be 4.5 million rubles a month. This amount already includes furniture, office equipment, free coffee-point areas, administrator and cleaning services. According to preliminary estimates of the company, the savings from placing the IT team in a co-working space with the necessary technical support and developed infrastructure can amount to up to 30% per year compared to the direct lease of a similar office, including the purchase of furniture, office equipment and maintenance costs. At the same time, before moving to coworking, PostTech employees worked in premises owned by Russian Post, TAdviser was specified in the company.

The need to move most of the specialists of the St. Petersburg branch of PochtaTeha has long been ripe, - noted in the Russian Post.

The Russian Post notes that, despite the possibilities of remote work that have opened up thanks to the self-isolation regime, the company sees the advantages of working from the office.

File:Aquote1.png
There are functions that require the physical presence of an employee in the office. Someone, due to personal circumstances, is more comfortable working in the office than from home. The development teams communicate more and better with each other, react faster to changes, better delve into the details, are more responsible for the tasks, the Russian Post says.

TAdviser did not specify what the working conditions are in three offices of the St. Petersburg branch of PochtaTeha, as well as its main branch in Moscow, compared to the new co-working space.

"An extremely difficult market, colossal competition, incredible cost": "Russian Post" is experiencing difficulties with hiring IT shnikov

In September 2019, Sergei Emelchenkov, Deputy General Director of Russian Post for Information Technologies and Digital Services, in an interview with TAdviser , announced the adjusted development parameters of Postal Technologies regarding those that were voiced six months before by the general director of Post Nikolai Podguzov (see below) and a year before that, Emelchenkov himself.

As of September, Postal Technologies employs, like six months ago, about 500 people.

File:Aquote1.png
By the end of the year, we plan to increase the staff to 600 people. The target figure is 1,100. [Her achievement] depends on the pace of recruitment. Aiming for 2021
File:Aquote2.png

Earlier, in March 2019, Podguzov spoke about plans to increase Pochtatech to 1000 people by the end of 2019, and in October 2018, Emelchenkov planned to hire 3,000 IT specialists to the company in the "coming years."

The shift in deadlines and the change in the target number of IT employees of the deputy general director of the Post explained as follows:

File:Aquote1.png
Extremely difficult market. The competition for more or less professional specialists is colossal. Therefore, we stopped increasing the team in Moscow and St. Petersburg. The cost is incredible, competition for every head. You find a person, and he already has four or five job offers. And if you did not propose to him on the same day, did not convince the young man, he will be in another company tomorrow. Therefore, we are starting to create competence centers in the regions
File:Aquote2.png

Colossal competition does not allow Postal Technologies to increase staff according to initial plans

The first regional competence center "Pochtatech" opened in Rostov-on-Don, the next in line - in Nizhny Novgorod and Udmurtia. The company also begins to work with universities - "you need to raise children, feed, teach. Universities, unfortunately, do not grow fighters who are ready to immediately go to work. They need to be prepared additionally, "said Emelchenkov.

As of September 2019 [1] , there are no open vacancies on the Postatech website outside Moscow and St. Petersburg, and in the capitals the company is looking for specialists for more than 50 vacancies. In particular, Frontend and Backend developers, product and project managers, analysts, application designers are required. Vacancies of the leader of the development center and the leader of project and process management have also been opened.

In total, the number of people who work for Russian Post in creating software and its high-quality support - internal employees and external contractors, according to Sergei Emelchenkov, will be about 2,000 people.

File:Aquote1.png
It is very important that the products created are quickly transferred to operation, that the infrastructure is deployed at the click of the fingers, that virtual servers are quickly cut, data stores are allocated, test environments are deployed. So these teams are working together, 'he added
File:Aquote2.png

The proportion between internal employees and external contractors in the IT block of Post has changed dramatically in recent years.

File:Aquote1.png
Six years ago, there were no programmers as such inside. And if anyone was, they were disparate teams across the country. We could not instantly increase our competencies, so we had to outsource a lot, - notes the CIO of the Russian Post. - But practice shows that according to a number of technologies, expertise should be grown inside. After all, we have specific logistics business processes - no one works on such a scale in Russia
File:Aquote2.png

The general director of "Post" promised to double the number of IT-shniki "Postal technologies" by the end of 2019

In March 2019, Nikolai Podguzov, General Director of Russian Post, speaking about the company's digitalization plans, noted that more than 40 billion rubles will be allocated for these purposes in the next 5 years. About 15 billion will be invested in strengthening the digital infrastructure, about 10 billion - in the implementation of projects on cloud computing, big data processing, in testing the work of artificial intelligence for robotizing business processes. Another 10-15 billion rubles will be invested in the digitalization of products and services.

To increase the efficiency of digital transformation in the Russian Post, a single competence center was created in the person of the subsidiary Postal Technologies, Podguzov added. There are now about 500 programmers and developers on its staff. By the end of the year, it is planned to almost double their number. The company is engaged in the development of a digital platform and the development of products based on the best available technologies, said the general director of Post [2]Подробнее #.2A_.C2.AB.D0.9F.D0.BE.D1.87.D1.82.D0.B0_.D0.A0.D0.BE.D1.81.D1.81.D0.B8.D0.B8.C2.BB_.D1.83.D0.B4.D0.B2.D0.BE.D0.B8.D1.82_.D0.BA.D0.BE.D0.BB.D0.B8.D1.87.D0.B5.D1.81.D1.82.D0.B2.D0.BE_.D0.98.D0.A2.D1.8D.D1.88.D0.BD.D0.B8.D0.BA.D0.BE.D0.B2_.D0.B8_.D0.B2.D0.BB.D0.BE.D0.B6.D0.B8.D1.82_.D0.B2_.D1.86.D0.B8.D1.84.D1.80.D0.BE.D0.B2.D0.B8.D0.B7.D0.B0.D1.86.D0.B8.D1.8E_40_.D0.BC.D0.BB.D1.80.D0.B4_.D1.80.D1.83.D0.B1.D0.BB.D0.B5.D0.B9 здесь.

2018: Plan to increase the number of employees to 3 thousand people

In the coming years, the staff in Postal Technologies will increase from about 300 to 3 thousand employees, Sergei Emelchenkov, Deputy General Director of Russian Post for Information Technology in October 2018, told TAdviser.

The staff of the company will be formed both from existing employees of the enterprise and at the expense of specialists attracted from the market, specified in the Russian Post.

The need to expand the staff is due to the fact that Postal Technologies should become a single center of digital competencies and will be able to create the digital solutions necessary for Russian Post, the organization explains.

File:Aquote1.png
"Postal Technologies" will specialize in the development of solutions for the digitalization of the main and auxiliary business processes of the federal postal operator, as well as at work with startups in areas of activity relevant for "Russian Post," the organization says.
File:Aquote2.png

More than three in the "Post of Russia" there is a digital transformation. It includes the digitalization of logistics, operations in departments, the transfer of customer interaction online and the construction of a corporate data platform.

In 2018, Russian Post, along with 13 other organizations, agreed to participate in a pilot project of the Ministry of Economy to implement the Institute of Director for Digital Technologies (Chief Digital Officer, CDO) in the management of companies with state participation. The Russian Post told TAdviser that as of October 2018, the CDO position at the enterprise is not personalized. In fact, for several years, employees of the Russian Post have already been performing CDO functions, said Sergei Emelchenkov.

2016: Creating

According to the Kontur.Fokus database, the Postal Technologies company was formed in October 2016 with the aim of developing software and bringing digital services and products to the market.

As of May 2017, the unit employed 140 people. In the future, it was planned to increase the number of developers to 300 people[1].

Russian Post has created an IT division

Among other projects, Postal Technologies planned to deal with logistics solutions used, in particular, to plan network loading, manage production and transport, monitor efficiency and extract additional income from the Russian Post logistics network.

The new company was also planned to be used to combine all online and offline products of Mail into a single automated system, which by the end of 2017 should be implemented in all post offices.

File:Aquote1.png
"Postal technologies" - according to the plan, this is a cauldron of innovations, capable of quickly introducing new digital products, operating large databases, - reported in the "Mail."
File:Aquote2.png

According to the representative of the enterprise, "Postal Technologies" solve another important task - the accumulation of experience in the field of IT, which is very important, given that some tasks of "Mail" cannot be solved with the help of partners.

File:Aquote1.png
External service providers are not able to implement IT solutions at the proper, high-quality level due to the complex architecture required by Russian Post and the large amount of data processed by the enterprise, the Mail noted.
File:Aquote2.png

Sergei Emelchenkov told TAdviser earlier that in 2016, Russian Post began to widely use technology. Big Data

In addition to Russian Post, many other Russian organizations have large IT-insourcing companies. The 2018 TAdviser Insourcer Ranking is here.
