According to him, according to the results of the experiment, the effectiveness of the seeker was proved and measures were planned to use the development results when modernizing existing missiles and creating promising ammunition.

We are talking about a heat-sensitive matrix for homing heads operating in the IR range. They are used not only in air-to-air missiles, but also in MANPADS, tank sights and much more. Until 2014, the Russian defense industry used mainly imported matrices. It seems that now its own has appeared, writes Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

In September 2022, Boris Obnosov, General Director of Tactical Missile Weapons Corporation (KTRV), reported that the company had tested samples of the X-MD-E homing guided short-range missile. The head of KTRV noted that the corporation has been working for several years on small-sized controlled weapons designed to arm not only drones, but also front-line aviation systems. As an example, he cited the X-MD-E homing guided short-range missile, which is in development at the technical project stage.
