2024: Joining the United Shipbuilding Corporation

The Marine Instrumentation Corporation (ILC) is fully integrated into the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC), which is managed by VTB Bank. This decision was made after a meeting held in July 2024 in St. Petersburg with the participation of the leaders of the ILC and the head of USC Andrei Puchkov.

According to RBC, personnel changes have also occurred within the framework of the transfer of assets. The position of the general director of the ILC instead of Leonid Strugov was taken by his deputy for production Andrei Vernigora, who previously headed the department for ensuring the state defense order of the Ministry of Defense.

Offshore Instrumentation Corporation became part of USC

The ILC was created on April 1, 2020 by decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The corporation includes such enterprises as Concern Oceanpribor JSC, Concern NPO Aurora JSC, Concern TsNII Electropribor JSC and Concern Morinformsystem Agat JSC, as well as their subsidiaries. These enterprises develop and produce navigation and communication systems, combat information and control systems, radar and sonar instruments for warships and civilian vessels.

At the beginning of 2024, the Ministry of Industry and Trade instructed the general director of the ILC Leonid Strugov to provide representatives of USC and Rostec with the technical opportunity and workplaces for the audit. Based on the results of this audit, it was decided to distribute ILC enterprises between USC and Rostec. However, it was later decided that all ILC enterprises would become part of USC.

According to sources in the shipbuilding industry, the integration of the ILC into the USC has both economic and technological reasons. Shipbuilding in Russia remains unprofitable, while ILC enterprises show stable profits thanks to contracts for military-technical cooperation with foreign countries. Integration should improve USC's financial performance and strengthen the competitiveness of Russian ships by developing advanced control and electric propulsion systems.[1]
