2025: Nationalization

On October 7, 2025, the Oktyabrsky District Court of the city of Tambov satisfied the claim of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation, turning the assets of Lanta, a large regional telecom operator, into state revenue. The owners of this company are recognized as extremists.

The defendants included Sergei Shmarov, Alexander Vasiliev, Alexander Zaytsev and his wife Margarita, as well as the Bulgarian organization For Free Russia Association ("For Free Russia" - recognized as undesirable). According to the prosecutor's office, these persons financed the Armed Forces of Ukraine and protests in Russia. In particular, as the department points out, in 2014, the Zaitsev spouses supported the change of power in Ukraine and the introduction of sanctions against Russia. In addition, they, at the expense of their assets, "provided assistance to participants in protest actions held by FBK" (recognized in Russia as a foreign agent, extremist and undesirable organization and prohibited). At the same time, the organization For free Russia Association, allegedly, "implements programs and projects to discredit the leadership of Russia, foreign and domestic policy of the country."

Tambov Internet provider "Lanta" nationalized

On this basis, the prosecutor's office demanded that the defendants be recognized as an extremist association and turn their property into state revenue, which includes a 100 percent stake in the authorized capital of Lanta. All these requirements are satisfied - the operator "Lanta" is nationalized. The resolution says that in order to protect the rights and legitimate interests of the Russian Federation and an indefinite circle of persons, the decision is turned to immediate execution.
