History

Investing ₽6,5 Billion in Electric Ship Construction
AFK Sistema successfully placed the first green bonds on the Moscow Exchange with a total volume of ₽6,5 billion. The funds will be used to develop the project of Emperium, a member of the Sistema group of AFK. This is the largest program in the country to create water passenger electric transport. This was reported in the Telegram channel Emperium in December 2025.
The project includes 46 electric ships and 28 stopping complexes, the commissioning of which is planned until the end of 2026. The organizer of the placement and ESG consultant was Sovcombank. The rating agency Expert RA confirmed the compliance of issues with the international principles of green bonds ICMA and Russian requirements for green financial instruments.
The Ekobas electric system, already operating on Moscow routes, has passed more than 1.3 million km since the beginning of operation. During this time, the ships transported over 2.5 million passengers and ensured a cumulative reduction in emissions by more than 5.5 thousand tons of carbon dioxide. The environmental effect of the use of electric vessels is significantly superior to traditional water transport.
The cost of operating ships is 20 times lower compared to analogues on internal combustion engines. A significant reduction in operating costs is due to the lower cost of electricity compared to diesel fuel and lower maintenance costs for electric engines.
The water electric transport ecosystem includes floating stopping complexes and built-in charging infrastructure. Stopping points become a point of attraction for residents and guests of the regions. The integration of the charging infrastructure into the stopping complexes ensures the continuity of the operation of ships without the need to return to the base station for recharging.
Floating stops are equipped with all the necessary amenities for passengers. Navigation and information systems allow passengers to track ship schedules. The architectural solution of the stopping complexes takes into account the urban planning context of various cities.[3]
