2022: Start creating a mobile operator for 3 billion rubles

April 4, 2022 it became known that a mobile operator is being created in the Crimea. The bank "Russia" allocates 3 billion rubles for the implementation of the project.

According to Kommersant, the mobile company will work in LTE networks. Investments are designed for seven years. Mobile Research Group analyst Eldar Murtazin doubts that 3 billion rubles will be enough to launch communications throughout the peninsula. This money can only be enough to cover key points in large cities with communication, he said. Also, according to the expert, the problem will be the purchase of telecommunications equipment under sanctions. At the same time, according to him, after the start of the introduction of a series of tough sanctions, the whole of Russia was under sanctions, and the threat of facing sanctions for individual operators lost its meaning.

According to the publication, the telecommunications company Miranda media, 20% of which belongs to Rostelecom, is engaged in a project to create an operator in Crimea. At the same time, Miranda Media owns 100% in Elemte-Invest LLC, which has several licenses for the provision of communication services in the Crimea and Sevastopol until 2024. By the beginning of April 2022, several local operators work in Crimea: Vivacell-MTS (brand Win mobile), Volna Mobile, CrimeaTelecom and Sevmobail (only in Sevastopol). The largest Russian operators MTS, VimpelCom, MegaFon and Tele2 are not present on the peninsula due to threats of sanctions, when using their services in the region, roaming operates. The Ministry of Digital Affairs told the newspaper that they support the creation of a mobile operator in the Crimea and are ready to "assist operators to enter the market in the republic at both the federal and regional levels."[1]
