JSC NORFES is founded as joint venture in July, 1992 by the largest shipping company of Russia 'Far East Shipping Company - FESCO' and the Norwegian concern 'NORCONTROL' for the purpose of development and operation of the management systems for ship traffic (MSST) in Peter the Great Bay. In 2001 the enterprise became completely Russian, only shareholder of which the Federal agency on management of federal property of the Ministry of Economics of Russia is. In 2006 by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation of JSC NORFES it is entered to the List of the strategic enterprises and strategic joint-stock companies.
Main activities:
- operation of management systems for ship traffic in the ports of Peter the Great Bay and on approaches to them - SUDS;
- providing information on arrangement and ship traffic in the ports of Peter the Great Bay - Service of information;
- maintenance of the equipment of sea regions of A1 and A2 of GMSSB in Peter the Great Bay and in an adjacent part of the Sea of Japan - GMSSB;
- design and development of SUDS, GMSSB and other security systems of navigation on the Pacific coast of the Russian Federation;
- information support of the state control of navigation, boundary and customs modes;
