On December 10, 2018 Nokia announced start as the company claims, the first-ever base station with water cooling. The technology has several advantages in comparison with analogs: it allows to heat buildings, cuts down expenses on energy consumption and also provides decrease in emissions of a carbon dioxide gas on value to 80%.
The first such base station earned in one of multi-storey buildings in Helsinki. Nokia developed the equipment, and the cooling system by means of liquid was created by the developer of energy technologies Efore. The Finnish telecommunication operator Elisa was responsible for commercial implementing solution by request of VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland company.
In the press release it is reported that liquid cooling replaces operation of conditioners and fans thanks to what power saving is provided (the 30 percent prize for clients is stated), service life of the equipment raises and less noisy work is reached it.
