The Nordea Bank ensured smooth operation of banking systems based on DPC Croc

On August 28, 2018 the CROC company reported that the Nordea Bank selected network of failsafe data centers CROC for creation of reserve DPC.

According to the company, placement in data center of Tier III Gold – Operational Sustainability the certified Uptime Institute guarantees reliable work of the transaction systems, including business and critical and also analytical and reportingovy applications. The project also allowed to reduce capital costs for computing infrastructure.

CROC provided resources of DPC Compressor for placement of the IT equipment of bank in machine halls with the guaranteed control of a microclimate. Existence of the international certification of level of resistance to failures not below Tier III was one of the main requirements of credit institution to infrastructure of DPC. During the project in DPC the protected circuit of physical security of racks with the IT equipment of the customer is created and by a bank inquiry own systems for monitoring of its working capacity are placed. Services of data center of CROC are provided on outsourcing model that allows Nordea Bank to increase operational efficiency due to optimum control of the IT budget.

We selected placement from external DPC since creation of own reserve infrastructure required significant one-time investments in comparison with lease of racks in data center. We considered the platform, the most suitable under bank requirements, including the level of certification of DPC, its availability, fault tolerance and reliability. The data center Compressor optimum approached under our tasks. Having transferred to provider activities, non-core for us, for maintenance of the engineering systems, we received the reserve infrastructure which is completely conforming to market demands and regulations. According to representatives of the company, the bank got access to infrastructure of the rented DPC with optimal parameters of cooling and power supply of the rented racks where the computing equipment is placed. Stable operation of computer systems and optimal cooling of racks is supported using an automated system of precision monitoring of a microclimate of own development on the basis of technologies of Internet of Things (IoT, Internet of Things).

Special attention in the project was paid to security with firmness - places thanks to creation of the protected circuit of physical security. According to corporate security policy of Nordea Bank the isolating barrier of the IT equipment placed in DPC provides defense of perimeter of bank in commercial data center and excludes risks of foreign intervention in work of banking systems of the customer. Certification of DPC Compressor on the standard of processing and storage of payment data of PCI DSS v3.2 in addition guarantees the level of information security, necessary for banks.

The banking market imposes more and more strict requirements to business systems availability in process of growth of digital channels since any idle time costs banks too expensive and affects a customer loyalty.
