Kazakhstan mining and metallurgical company "Kazkhrom" for 4 billion rubles purchased 50 unmanned vehicles to work in the mine

Customers: Kazchrom TNK (ENRC)

Contractors: Normet

Project date: 2026/02

On February 11, 2026, the Kazakh mining and metallurgical company Kazkhrom announced the start of deliveries of self-propelled mining equipment to the Bolashak mine of the Don Mining and Processing Plant. Investments in the renewal of the park exceeded 28 billion tenge (about 4 billion rubles). In total, the company will receive 51 pieces of equipment.

According to Profit, the first 20 cars have already been delivered. The equipment is designed for drilling, loading holes, fixing mines, transporting ore and service operations. Suppliers are leading manufacturers from Sweden and Finland.

A key feature of the new technology is a high level of automation. Drilling rigs receive digital certificates of drilling via Wi-Fi, are independently positioned and work out the cycle without the participation of the operator. Personnel monitor the process from the surface, analyzing the data and preparing blasting designs. The use of an electric drive in most machines reduces the level of noise, vibration and gas pollution in the face.

Ladle loading and delivery machines and dump trucks are used for ore transportation. The cabins are certified according to safety standards, equipped with dust-proof ventilation and air conditioning systems. In dead end areas, the equipment is equipped with gas analyzers with the function of automatic blocking when the maximum permissible concentrations are exceeded.

To improve blasting operations, an Australian-made charging machine was purchased. A set of shotcret equipment was introduced to strengthen the fastening of mine workings. Commissioning works are performed by representatives of manufacturing companies. One drilling rig and an explosive machine have already been put into operation, and a second drilling rig is being installed.

Kazkhrom CEO Sergei Prokopyev called the launch of the Bolashak mine a key project for the mining and metallurgical complex of Kazakhstan. After solving difficult mining and geological conditions with the participation of science, the enterprise works normally. The priority is safety: the new technique minimizes the presence of people in hazardous areas and increases productivity.

The mine is switching to a system with a sub-storey collapse and end discharge of ore, which requires high-performance self-propelled equipment and increases the extraction of reserves. It is planned to organize underground repair boxes.[1]
