Rostelecom will construct IP VPN in Northgas

Rostelecom will build a virtual private network (Virtual Private Network) of IP VPN for the Russian gas company "Northgas". Rostelecom was selected for execution of works on creation of network thanks to the fact that the Company has technical capability and successful experience of implementation of similar projects in remote regions.

According to the signed agreement, Rostelecom will build the protected corporate network which will integrate points of presence of Northgas Ltd in the different cities of Russia - in Moscow, Novy Urengoy and localities of gas trade. The feature of the project using topology "star" consists that the central point is not in Moscow, and in Novy Urengoy. At the same time the most remote segment is in the polar region, in 300 km to the north of Novy Urengoy. For increase in the general reliability of a system in addition to land communication channels Northgas Ltd uses modern satellite technologies of communication.

Despite difficult climatic conditions and unusual network topology, specialists Rostelecom successfully completed the project in time. Using the IP VPN network built by Rostelecom employees Northgas will be able to exchange all types of data between remote offices of the company, to use convenient internal telephony with the number plan, uniform for all points of presence, to hold sessions of audio and video conferencing.
