Situation

OGK-5 has geographically distributed structure: the state district power plants which are its part are in the Tver region, in Stavropol Krai and also in the Urals, in Sverdlovsk region. The central office is located in Moscow. Total number of staff of the company is over 4 thousand people. Ensuring access to the general corporate base of documents and training materials to the staff of branches was one of project tasks. The solution of this task was possible only using remote technologies.

Besides, before company management there was a problem of intensive personnel training of remote branches to management skills. At one of exit meetings the decision on creation in the company of the corporate university was made, one of activities of which had to be a distance learning.

Solution

By then in OGK-5 the corporate portal constructed on Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2010 already functioned. The portal provided access to the centralized storage of documents, operational information (including far off) and also gave an opportunity of joint work of employees. For example, this portal includes corporate phonebooks, the register of orders, archive of the forms necessary in the current work, different polls and many other elements. Use of the industrial Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2010 platform allowed to integrate effectively the portal with information systems of OGK-5. In particular, on-line synchronization of data of the reference book of employees with data of a personnel system on 1C: Enterprise platform 8 was provided.

By consideration of versions of offers of educational portals in the market the choice fell on ShareKnowledge training management system – the complete modular IT solution for knowledge management and personnel development. A system is constructed on portal SharePoint technologies. For this reason integration of the training system into a corporate portal required the smallest amount of time and costs.

A system allows to automate processes of creation, storage and distribution of knowledge and also to create knowledge bases and expert networks, to perform information storage and to conduct search in all electronic materials of the organization.

Advantages

According to the head of department of corporate information systems of JSC OGK-5 Alexander Vyacheslavovich Perfilov, "use of the ShareKnowledge system allowed to reduce significantly temporary and finance costs by training of specialists both training center as trainers, and employees of the company as students to work with an electronic training system". Besides, the customer had an opportunity to formalize and save the unique knowledge and experience which are saved up by his specialists.

The aspect of replicability of this solution in the power industry is not less important. As Igor Sovyk, the specialist of department of selection, development and personnel training notes, first of all, similar solutions would be relevant for OGK having geographically distributed structure as implementation of a similar system in local TGC is represented inexpedient for a number of reasons.

Denis Kovalchuk, the development director of Competentum, notes:
