Virtualization paid off Ochakovo for half a year

The producer of Ochakovo drinks refused the old server hardware, and for new machines used the instrument of virtualization Microsoft Hyper-V. It allowed to make IT infrastructure of more reliable. The project paid off for the first half of year.

MPBK "Ochakovo" summed up the results of the project on centralization and consolidation of IT infrastructure. Need for implementation of such project arose including owing to the big scale of activity of the company – MKPB include 18 enterprises, and the production capacity of the company is expected release of 260 million decalitres of drinks in a year.

The main corporate Ochakovo platform is Monolith: the company uses both the ERP system of this vendor, and the specialized systems "the Monolith: CRM" and "Monolith: Personnel". According to Ivan Dyomin, the Chief information officer Ochakovo though Monolith is not too widespread, it "is checked and well considers many features of the industry".

Ochakovo prior to the beginning of the modernization project own data processing center (DPC) was an infrastructure core. However performance, and, above all reliability of work of IT structure did not suit the company. "It is clear that if such system fails, then it is wrapped in very serious losses for the company", - CIO explained.

The DPC Ochakovo became morally outdated, and as a result old servers replaced with new from HP, and transferred a part to virtual environment. The project paid off for half a year. 

Besides, in Ochakovo the project of interface of the ERP system with a number of the APCS complexes is in process of implementation. "Without creation of a reliable hardware complex about it just there could not be also a speech", - Ivan Dyomin said earlier.

According to him, so in Ochakovo need to create the stable and failsafe centralized IT structure, including to develop the system of remote access to data from branches ripened.

As the system integrator for upgrade R-Style was selected. As a result of negotiations the decision to create a system based on HP servers and Microsoft Hyper-V was made, and as a management tool and monitoring IT services to use Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM 2012).

In addition to them the management Ochakovo considered other offers, including based on the solutions Cisco Systems and also based on joint solutions with technologies of Microsoft. As a result the R-Style option was selected on optimal price relation and qualities.

Works on implementation lasted about a month. Project cost was about 2 million rubles, including the equipment on which the system mentioned above, and software licenses is unrolled.

It is interesting that as a result the DBMS servers servicing the ERP system remained to work on physical servers. The servers servicing defense of perimeter of network including management tools a directory service of the Active Directory, DNS, corporate mail based on Microsoft Exchange 2010 and some other are transferred to virtual environment.

In Ochakovo say that thus not only reliability and uninterrupted operation of work of all systems was reached, but also processes of creation of new jobs are automated, there was a possibility of safe remote work of users and housekeeping overheads are reduced. All project paid off for half a year.
