On March 15, 2023, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), an international network of companies offering consulting and audit services, announced the introduction of artificial intelligence to improve the performance of its employees.
PwC has entered into a cooperation agreement with AI startup Harvey. This firm will provide PwC tax and legal professionals around the world with access to advanced generative AI technologies. We are talking about deploying a solution based on OpenAI developments and a neural network that underlies the ChatGPT chatbot. At the same time, Harvey itself, as noted, receives support from the OpenAI Startup Fund.
Harvey's platform uses natural language processing, machine learning and data analysis to improve various aspects of legal work. PwC will also work out options for using AI in taxation. Although all results will be monitored and verified by PwC specialists, Harvey will help generate recommendations and forecasts based on large amounts of information, which will speed up decision-making.
The new technology will be accessed by approximately 4,000 PwC lawyers in more than 100 countries around the world. The neural network will be applied in areas such as evaluating contracts, checking regulatory requirements, considering claims, legal consulting services, etc. PwC also intends to partner with Harvey to help clients streamline internal legal processes. In addition, PwC plans to develop and train its own AI models through Harvey's platform with the goal of creating customized products and services for its own use cases and for tax and legal clients. It is emphasized that AI will not be used to provide legal advice to clients and will not replace professional PwC employees.[1]
