2019: Transfer of the geodistributed IT cluster in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure

On October 29, 2019 it became known that PEK, Russian the cargo carrier, selected and uses cloud services Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) during creation elastic fault-tolerant IT infrastructures for support of geographically distributed business. On OCI both test environments, and business and critical workloads are unrolled. The choice of the Universal Credits model opened PEK access to all cloud services Oracle IaaS and PaaS.

More than 3.5 million clients use annually logistics services of PEK: individuals, large manufacturing and trade enterprises. The branch network of the company contains up to 200 departments and covers more than 100 thousand localities in Russia, providing the cargo message with Kazakhstan, the European Union and People's Republic of China. To increase service quality, to reduce time of transportation and to raise the service level of clients, the company actively develops and implements modern IT systems, technologies and services.

Reliable IT infrastructure is the most important component of business of the company. PEK with care approached the choice of cloud services for creation of the geodistributed failsafe IT cluster and made the decision to pass to OCI from a cloud of other supplier. The solution for benefit of OCI was influenced by the following factors: access to productive infrastructure of Oracle Cloud; professional examination in management of a cloud of the global supplier; attractive model of receiving cloud services with payment for really used volume; a possibility of the choice and testing of any cloud services of IaaS and PaaS within Universal Credits.

On oktbr 2019 on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure eight test circuits on which developers test functioning of key accounting and production systems are created. For their deployment the company uses services of cloud infrastructure Oracle, such as capacities of Compute and Storage and also BareMetal dedicated servers. For access to Oracle Cloud the allocated channel was organized that allowed to increase performance of applications in a hybrid cloud environment and to provide an optimal combination of cloud resources and the local systems.

PEK gets advantages from the following services Oracle Cloud Infrastructure: Oracle Cloud Compute Services is service of creation and control of virtual machines, allows to scale and change their parameters depending on business needs and to create infrastructure with opportunities of the automated deployment and folding of virtual machines as required; Oracle Cloud Storage Services is the data warehouse on the basis of blocks and volumes, allows to provide disk resources and to provide data storage for virtual machines and also supports elastic configurations and open S3 standard; The protected networks allow to organize Oracle Cloud Networking, Connectivity and Edge Services and to provide secure access to virtual machines in cloud infrastructure and also to provide network balancing of loading and management of automatic creation of copies of virtual machines depending on loading[1].
