In the metro of Tashkent launched a payment system using the palm

On November 30, 2023, in the khokimiyat of the city of Tashkent, it was reported that a fare payment system was launched in the local metro using a palm scan. The solution was developed by Uzinfok, a single integrator for the creation and support of state information systems in Uzbekistan.

We are talking about the use of Palm ID technology: this is a method biometric of identification based on the pattern of veins. To use the system, you must first go through the registration procedure with the binding of a transport card: for this, just enter the data through a special program. As of the beginning of December 2023, Palm ID technology operates at the Druzhba Narodov station of the Tashkent metro. Identification and payment for travel is carried out contactless: the user just needs to place his palm above the scanner. After recognizing the passenger, the board will be charged automatically.

To pay for travel in the Tashkent metro, you no longer need to get bank or transport cards, checks with a QR code. Palm ID is running on the aisle. You can register there - in the lobby of the metro station, - said in an official statement.

When using Palm ID, the virtual card is opened and replenished with funds through a mobile application. Uzinfokom emphasizes that the system provides a high level of security for biometric information of subway passengers. Other methods of biometric identification are also being introduced in the Tashkent metro: since September 2023, the Face ID system has been used to pay for travel using face scanning. Until the end of the second quarter of 2024, it is planned to cover all metro stations with a new payment system.^[1]
