On April 24, 2024, the Uzbek operator Perfectum Mobile announced the start of the deployment of a 5G network. The only supplier of equipment within the framework of this project is. the Finnish Nokia
Perfectum and Nokia signed a cooperation agreement at the end of February 2024. The contract provides for the supply, installation and commissioning of 5G network equipment with autonomous architecture (Standalone, SA) worth €100 million. 5G infrastructure is planned to be deployed throughout Uzbekistan within two years. It is expected to be the first 5G SA standard network in Central Asia.
The commercial launch of 5G services is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2024 in Tashkent with a phased expansion to all regions of the country. Perfectum subscribers will be able to use the services of high-speed Internet access with low delay, as well as voice services with national coverage. It is noted that the introduction of 5G is a strategic investment in the future of Uzbekistan, consistent with the government's digital transformation program and the growing demand for high-speed communications in the region.
According to Dmitry Shukov, CEO of Perfectum, the company plans to provide the most comprehensive range of services that can be implemented on the basis of the 5G SA network - for both citizens and corporate clients. It is said that small delays and high throughput will help in the development of a number of promising areas, including telemedicine, solutions for a smart city, remote work platforms, etc.
