On July 20, 2020 it became known that Beeline Business (structural division of PJSC VimpelCom) and Peter the Great St.Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU) implemented the project on involvement of entrants using the system of artificial intelligence Beeline of AI (Beeline of Artificial Intelligence).
Within a month, during work of selection committee, a system Beeline of AI provides the addresses to school students of 16 — 18 years and students of final years of universities of 22 — 25 years who this year were interested in receipt in higher educational institutions and also to their parents. Target audience were the entrants interested in hi-tech specialties ("information security", "mathematics and mechanics", "nanotechnologies and nanomaterials"). The geography of a targeted advertizing campaign covered practically all regions of Russia.
Beeline of AI is a group of systems for smart marketing which allows to start advertizing campaigns via top online instruments of the market (Google, Yandex, MyTarget, Facebook and td) and also through own stock (the SMS, PUSH, voice calls, the application my Beeline). Formation of audiences is carried out as on data Beeline using, for example, interests and preferences of users and information on a geolocation, and on these partners.
In addition, Beeline of AI helps to analyze pointwise audience, to build a custom portrait of the target client, to analyze demand, to carry out the assessment of sales growth or attendance offline of locations and many other things.
In 2020 SPbPU offers entrants more than 5 thousand budget places and more than 60 directions of preparation. Set by strategically important and demanded directions, such as "Automation of technology processes and productions", "Construction of unique buildings and constructions", "Mechatronics and robotics" is increased. The university uses new technologies not only within the organization of educational process, but also for selection of entrants.
Technologies were included already firmly into our everyday life and expand the influence on its spheres more and more. The task of involvement of students was for us interesting and uncommon, both in terms of technologies, and from the point of view of people who manage these technologies. We are very glad that it was succeeded to use all force of our algorithms, data and targeting for such important task, we help young people to take an important step in creation of the adulthood. The project with SPbPU is the first experience of use of the innovative solutions Beeline Business in an ecosystem of the state enterprise which should confirm that artificial intelligence technologies can solve problems of the companies of any sector and scale. If the service proves the efficiency, it will be used also next year, including for the solution of other tasks of SPbPU. Possibly, selection and involvement of entrants using artificial intelligence is the future of universities which waits for us in the long term 3–6 years. Within educational activity of the university crucially the problem of the correct selection of motivated and perspective entrants who will be able to implement the potential in the Polytechnical university is important. Competent use of tools of artificial intelligence and targeting allowed us to select pointwise the best entrants under the specific directions of preparation and also to notify school students on their opportunities in Polytechnic University.
