At the end of May 2024, the Russian Ministry of Finance announced a tender for the large-scale purchase of domestic software and hardware and servers for the modernization of the department's information and telecommunication infrastructure. The total amount of the contract is 2.6 billion rubles.

The purpose of the purchase is to create dedicated protected circuits based on domestic technologies for the functioning of the information systems of the Ministry of Finance, taking into account the requirements for the protection of information. As noted in the terms of reference, this will reduce sanctions risks and increase computing power, increase the volume of data storage systems (DSS) and improve backup.

The Ministry of Finance stressed that as part of the modernization, it is planned to update the subsystems of antivirus and cryptographic protection, firewall screening, monitoring and detection of threats. To do this, additional licenses and equipment will be purchased, in particular, the antivirus software package Kaspersky Anti Targeted Attack Platform.

The main purchases will be domestic hardware and software complexes (PAC) of virtualization and object storage, as well as servers. Thus, virtualization PAC will consist of 6 control nodes, 28 computing nodes and switches. Each node must have at least two 24-core 2.2 GHz processors, 384 GB of RAM and 1.9 TB and 400 GB SSDs.

Virtualization servers must have up to two processors with at least 24 cores and 2.4 GHz, 384 GB of RAM and two 480 GB and 1.92 TB SSDs. The operating system of servers must be domestic and be in the register of Russian programs.

As noted in the terms of reference, applications for participation in the tender are accepted until June 17, 2024. The choice of supplier is scheduled for June 19, 2024.[1]
