Micron launches chip production line at rival NM-Tech plant due to high demand

The company "Micron" launches a production line using 180 nanometers technology at the facilities of the Zelenograd plant "NM-Tech." This became known in mid-October 2025.

Mikhail Semenov, director of the scientific and technical center of NM-Tech LLC, spoke about the project. Micron is trying to expand production bottlenecks, he said. The 180 nanometer technology is located on the NM-Tech production line. A number of test processes have already been passed, the first crystals are produced.

A representative of Micron confirmed the information about the launch of the production line. The company sees growing demand from the market and is expanding opportunities to increase chip production. Expansion is carried out, among other things, through the transfer of technologies and products. The spokesman did not disclose details about the production capacity and timing of the launch.

NM-Tech and Micron are located in Zelenograd and are close in types of equipment used. A source on the microelectronics market explained that the NM-Tech equipment is somewhat newer. In theory, it is able to provide a more accurate topology for the production of chips.

Another interlocutor in the microelectronics market noted the workload of enterprises with orders. In his opinion, Micron, like many enterprises in the industry, is littered with orders. Placing production on NM-Tech will allow the company to expand rapidly. This solution will be much faster and cheaper than building your own new facilities.

In July 2025, NM-Tech invested ₽118 billion in the plant. The company is launching production using technologies of 130 nanometers, 180 nanometers and 250 nanometers. In Russia, products produced by these technological processes are extremely in demand by the market.

In 2024, the authorized capital of NM-Tech was increased from ₽152,4 billion to ₽242,3 billion. The number of employees of the company as of the end of 2024 was 1,075 people. The sole owner of NM-Tech is a state corporation ВЭБ.РФ. Denis Frolov has been the CEO of the company since November 2021.^[1]
