2025: First phase of AI implementation

The Pulkovo airport has completed the first phase of the introduction of artificial intelligence for operational event analytics in the terminal building. The initiative became part of the Potok project, aimed at reducing pre-flight passenger service. The first stage covers the registration area and allows employees to automatically predict the formation of queues for a timely reaction and the opening of additional check-in counters. Representatives of the airport reported this on June 2, 2025.

The implementation was carried out by Lur AiTi LLC, which specializes in automation and digitalization of enterprises of continuous activities, including using systems based on artificial intelligence. A solution based on the RTMIP product was used to complete the tasks.)

In 2024, we opened a passenger and transport flow control center, which monitors the airport around the clock to control the load on infrastructure. During the launch of the project, there was a need for a tool for monitoring the flow of passengers in the terminal and analyzing the time in queues. By introducing a system from LurAI LLC to monitor the check-in hall, we have improved the efficiency of the distribution of check-in counters, fully automated the measurement of waiting times and were able to respond to passenger crowds before queues appear. The next step is scaling to other zones of the airport, - said Alexey Kostylev, head of the service for operational traffic support on the platform of Air Gate of the Northern Capital LLC (operator of Pulkovo airport).

The next stage is planned to scale the system to the areas of entrance and pre-flight inspection of passengers, taking into account the requirements of transport safety, the territory of the terminal area and parking to control the transport load, as well as the airfield platform.

The development of systems based on machine vision at Pulkovo Airport significantly improves the work of employees and improves the comfort of passengers. The uniqueness of the solution lies in the ability to ensure operation in a closed circuit in accordance with information security requirements.

The Potok project at Pulkovo Airport reduced pre-flight service time from 1.5 hours to 30 minutes.
