Researches of genomics of populations of radical ethnoses of Russia began

2019: The Union State will decrypt a genome of Russians

The center of Genetics and Reproductive Medicine of "Genetico" won the tender for carrying out research works for the subject "Genomics of Populations of Radical Ethnoses of Russia" for scientific research institute of medical genetics of the Tomsk research medical center (RMC).

Research work assumes studying of a gene pool of populations of the different people of the Russian Federation using the most modern technologies of mass parallel sequencing of DNA. Work is performed within the scientific and technical program of the Union State of Russia and Belarussiya "DNA identification". Specialists should study a genome of radical ethnoses of Siberia, the Far East, the Volga-Ural region, the Caucasus and Central Asia.

According to the director of the Tomsk NIMTs Vadim Stepanov "The main objective of scientific research institute of medical genetics of the Tomsk NIMTs is development of technology of DNA identification and determination of population accessory of the unknown individual. The contractor of the contract, the Genetico Center, is the only company in the Russian Federation having the modern equipment, experience and qualified specialists. Receiving a total of genotyping in the form of digital arrays is going to be executed until the end of 2021".

It shows attention of the state to genetics and genetic researches" - the director of the Center Genetico, Artur Isaev comments on news. "I want to note that the Genetico Center gave an opportunity to researchers from Russia and Belarus to conduct a full, qualitative and available genome research at cost in Russia, without exporting samples and personal genomic data abroad. Now in Europe, the USA and the Russian Federation there is an understanding that genomic data have characteristics of personal data and their turnover should be regulated attentively taking into account the interests of citizens".
