A giant 3D printer for printing sand products has been deployed in Russia

Customers: Naberezhnochelninsky Institute of KFU (Naberezhnochelninsky Institute of Kazan (Volga) Federal University)

Contractors: Robotech

Project date: 2025/02

Robotech SandMax 1200 industrial 3D printer began work at the Naberezhnochelninsky Institute of Kazan Federal University in February 2025. The equipment is designed to create casting moulds from sand, resin and hardener. The printer is installed in the laboratory of foundry and metallurgical processes of the advanced engineering school "Cyber Auto Tech."

According to the press service of the university, the printer works using Binder Jetting technology, based on layer-by-layer gluing of powder materials with a binder. device is intended for application in metallurgical industry.

Director of the Naberezhnochelninsky Institute of KFU Georgy Kotiev noted that the use of a 3D printer will significantly improve the quality of work in the field of foundry production. In addition, new technologies improve the educational process and introduce students to scientific activities.

Director of Production of Robotech Denis Satdinov and Chief Designer Pavel Kotelnikov trained the Institute's employees in working with a 3D printer. Specialists received certificates confirming their qualification and admission to work with equipment.

An industrial 3D printer significantly speeds up the process of creating molds, improves their quality and optimizes production costs. The technology makes it possible to create complex molds for casting metal products with high accuracy.

The equipment is a completely domestic development. When choosing it, parameters were taken into account that allow you to use the printer both in the educational process and in scientific research.

The Laboratory of Foundry and Metallurgical Processes plans to use new equipment not only for teaching students, but also for fulfilling orders from industrial enterprises. This will make it possible to establish close cooperation between the educational institution and the production sector.[1]
