With integration of the technology RPU systems received the complete solution helping to direct quickly transport and personnel for detection and elimination of the reasons of failures. Operation of the solution reduces time of shutdown and improves consumer service which the company delivers the services.

Rochester Public Utilities used the Networkfleet program for control of location of the cars long ago, but before this information did not come to GIS system. Besides, RPU was required more convenient and exact method of position fix of the occurred failure, arrangements of transmission lines, safety locks, transformers and other equipment in a shutdown zone. Without this information of RPU could not reduce time of liquidation of failures and conducting repair.

Project Progress

Integration Networkfleet with Esri ArcGIS GeoEvent Processor allowed RPU to integrate the data on functioning of network arriving in real time with the corporate geographic information system and to create the visual card of electrical power infrastructure of the area. Now data on location of the vehicle are transmitted in ArcGIS GeoEvent Processor through Networkfleet API, and employees RPU see where there are vehicles, both in relation to the address or the street, and concerning transmission lines, transformers and other stationary objects of city engineering infrastructure.

Project Results

As a result of the carried-out integration managers can distribute field crews much more effectively, reducing response time and reducing the general time of shutdown.

As the Networkfleet applications are available far off, the staff of RPU uses their functions both from office, and on departure. By means of integration with GeoEvent Processor some specialists can publish cards online, and others - to browse them on any desktop computer, the notebook or the mobile device. Also it is possible to impose warnings of weather conditions on the card.
