IBS has completed a project for load testing of the system for Rosgosstrakh

2022: Conducting load testing of the Guidewire software and technical software complex

On October 27, 2022, IBS announced the load testing of the Guidewire software and technical software complex used to automate insurance activities for Rosgosstrakh. The results of the project confirmed the stable behavior of the system under high load.

Rosgosstrakh uses the Guidewire (GW) system to execute, issue, modify and terminate insurance contracts, as well as to record and store related documentation. The end users of the system are employees of the company interacting with GW through the agency portal, and customers who draw up insurance policies through the site. Active interaction creates a high load on the system - peak values ​ ​ reach 1300 users per hour.

Rosgosstrakh has a need to build and develop the practice of load testing to improve the performance of the system. The company also wanted preliminary guidance on GW's sustainability in expanding the business. Within the framework of the open competition, IBS was chosen as the contractor of the project.

The project lasted nine months - from August 2021 to May 2022. The IBS project team had to carry out load testing of the current and updated functionality of the GW system. An additional task was to transfer the work on load testing to the internal specialists of Rosgosstrakh.

During the project, IBS specialists analyzed the Guidewire system and its protocols for interacting with related systems, assessed the built-in IT architecture and statistics on operations. Then they drew up a load profile on the systems based on the statistics and forecasts obtained. The project team deployed the Load IT module to provide convenient online tracking of the progress of the load and results, described the strategy and approaches to testing, developed the necessary plugs and performed load testing of several versions of the GW system release.

The company has compared the next version of GW not yet released into the product environment with the version of the system installed at the time of load testing. For testing, not only such well-known foreign solutions as Apache JMeter were used, but also its own IBS development - a module called Load IT (part of the Test IT PRO ecosystem), noted Yulia Larikova, project manager, IBS.

A feature of the project was a large number of integration interactions of the test object with external systems. For example, to create and store documents, Rosgosstrakh uses the FileStore system, for various calculations - Oracle Insbridge. The team organized their integration interaction, added Marat Nevmyanov, deputy director of the load testing department at IBS.

IBS specialists, based on an agreed list of operations, have developed more than 40 testing scripts and 12 external system stubs, of which seven are actively used, noted Valery Simakin, head of the testing department of PJSC IC Rosgosstrakh.
