Rosselkhozbank transfers its IT infrastructure to the domestic OS Astra Linux

2023: IT Infrastructure Conversion to Astra Linux Special Edition

Rosselkhozbank chose OCAstra Linux Special Edition as an infrastructure platform. The results of practical tests confirmed that the Russian platform allows RSHB personnel to successfully fulfill their tasks and ensures data protection in accordance with banking standards. Representatives of the Astra Group of Companies told TAdviser about this on January 26, 2023.

The tests were carried out at Rosselkhozbank as part of the phased implementation of the IT import substitution strategy. Since 2022, the bank has been carrying out a comprehensive replacement of foreign technologies with domestic ones and for this purpose is conducting pilot projects.

RSHB experts tested the software presented on the market at automated workplaces (AWS) of the bank's personnel. In their opinion, Astra Linux Special Edition has established itself as a reliably protected fault-tolerant OS that allows you to fulfill all the main business tasks of the organization. At the same time, an important role in making a decision was played by the availability of certified IPSs that ensure the degree of information security necessary for the bank, as well as access to technical support and support services from Astra Group of Companies, including customization of the product for specific needs of the customer. In addition, one of the significant factors, according to the bank's recall, was the presence of well-functioning migration mechanisms: thanks to them, the organization maintains the continuity of its business processes even during the implementation of new software.

As of the end of January 2023, the Rosselkhozbank has already purchased more than 10 thousand licenses for AWS. It is planned that by 2024 more than 30 thousand employees' jobs and the bank's server group will be transferred to the Russian operating system.

As Ilya Sivtsev, General Director of Astra Group, noted, the financial sector is a strategically important area for the company with its complex specifics.

"We build a software stack of infrastructure and system software around Astra Linux, work on compatibility with solutions and systems used in the industry, integrate all group products with our information protection tools, and implement secure development processes. We are developing, among other things, the server version of Astra Linux OS, optimizing it for various use cases and high loads. We implement the Infrastructure as Code approach in the deployment and configuration of our solutions - automation in action to improve the quality and speed of all services, - said Ilya Sivtsev.

According to him, the company's goal is to provide customers from the banking sector with a set of opportunities and the level of service they are used to in their work, reduce implementation costs, facilitate it, but not at the expense of the overall security of systems and business efficiency.
