Rostelecom tested a prototype of a cloud service of protection of data transmission with quantum enciphering

On May 27, 2019 reported to Rostelecom company what together with Kriptosoft was completed by tests of a prototype of a cloud service on the organization of supersecure channels of data transmission using quantum distribution of encryption keys.

Transfer of crucial data between data centers "Rostelecom" on communications the channel with a total length about 30 km was organized. In places of transfer and data reception the hardware and software systems of Kriptosoft providing quantum distribution of encryption keys were set. Service was organized on cloud to infrastructure Rostelecom. Transmission rate of the protected data on the line was limited to capacity used in a prototype CIPF and was 100 Mbps. Possibilities of the tested quantum equipment of development and distribution of key information allow to provide data transfer rate to 100 Gbit/sec. In the long term corporate clients of Rostelecom will be able to use service, having ordered it in a personal account.

The Rostelecom company takes good positions in the Russian market of services of data centers and cloud services. On resources of the company the major state information systems (IS) with sensitive data are placed (the portal of state services, the system of interdepartmental electronic interaction, a single biometric system and many others). Effective and failsafe operation of any ICs requires double, and sometimes also threefold reservation of data in geographically spaced data centers. Only this task requires transfer of huge amount of data between them. We want to provide to our clients, including government institutions, the maximum data protection, including in the course of their copying, acceptance and transfer. For this reason first of all we were engaged in development of a prototype of a cloud service using quantum distribution of encryption keys. Testing of a prototype of service showed efficiency of basic technologies of Kriptosoft and helped to decide on the main directions of further works. The high level of transmission security of data is provided. The cryptographic key developed under the protocol of quantum distribution of keys is loaded into a CIPF and, thereby, the secure channel of information transfer between data centers forms.
