2020: Doubling internet traffic every two years

The volume of Internet traffic doubles every two years. We noted a particularly sharp jump when the country introduced a self-isolation regime caused by the COVID-19 coronavirus, said in May 2020 Sergey Gusev, vice president, director of the macro-regional branch of Ural, PJSC Rostelecom.

"As a result of several large-scale upgrades of the Chelyabinsk - Khabarovsk line over the past ten years, the maximum data transfer rate increased from 3 Tbit/s in 2010 to 40 Tbit/s in 2020."
Sergey Gusev adds.

The increase in the data transfer rate on the highway by 14 times since launch has increased the volume of transmitted traffic between Europe and Asia, reducing the time to access foreign servers on which international Internet resources are located.

Such a proactive increase in bandwidth helped the company maintain network performance and quality of services during the COVID-19 epidemic, when many people who remained in self-isolation began to actively use online training services, TV, media portals.

2010: Network launch after 5 years of construction
