Rostelecom will make in Tuapse street lighting "smart"

2020: Start of creation of an automated system of street lighting

On April 15, 2020 Rostelecom announced the beginning of project implementation on creation in Tuapse of an automated system of street lighting. Works are conducted within the power service contract between national digital provider and city administration and will be complete by the end of September, 2020.

The company will replace the existing lamps with energy saving LED lamps – all more than 3600 such lamps will be set. The term of their service exceeds 20 years, and for effective functioning devices need several times less energy in comparison with normal streetlights. In the project specialists of Rostelecom are going to use the strengthened self-supported insulated conductor: it will allow to avoid losses of the electric power on networks.

Implementation of this project is a continuation of a lot of work on giving of Tuapse of modern look, increase in comfort and safety of accommodation. Thanks to good illumination we expect, for example, reduction of emergency situations on highways. Pleases also the fact that it will be in the long term possible to reduce costs for functioning of a system of street lighting and to allocate the saved funds for the solution of other important issues, noted Maxim Krivopalov, the acting as the mayor of Tuapse

Along with replacement of lamps Rostelecom will set in the city of 75 control cabinets outside lighting, united in a single system. Thanks to it management of lighting will be conducted remotely. A system will be able automatically to switch on and off outside lighting according to the seasonal diagram, to control power consumption, to monitor illegal connections and quickly to notify dispatching personnel on emergency situations. All this will allow municipality to reduce expenses on the electric power significantly: economy will make more than 60% of budgetary funds or 11 million kilowatt-hours for the next 7 years.

Rostelecom in Krasnodar Krai for April, 2020 has considerable experience of implementation of such projects: in the last two years street lighting was upgraded in Belorechensk, Labinsk, Kurganinsk, Kropotkin, Novorossiysk and village Old Minsk. Implementation of energy saving lamps is one of elements of the federal program "Smart City", implemented by national provider of digital services through the whole country. A main objective of the program – use of modern technologies of data collection and processing for increase in effective management of city resources and improvements of quality of life of people.
