2019: Migration of a SAP landscape of ERP

On September 13, 2019 the IBS company reported that migration with change of DBMS and OS increased performance systems also allowed to optimize costs and to flexibly scale Russ Outdoor business resources.

Start of products and expansion of requirements for automation of basic processes of the company prompted need of upgrade of the existing SAP landscape, the including solution ERP, HCM, BW, PO and Solution Manager. Besides, the management of Russ Outdoor decided to transfer processing and data storage from a physical architecture on cloud. Such transition optimizes costs and facilitates scaling of resources in the conditions of the growing business needs.

Necessary stage of similar transaction is migration of a SAP landscape. The IBS company became the partner of Russ Outdoor in the solution of these questions.

Specialists of IBS calculated resources for target infrastructure and executed migration according to the official managements of vendors. During the course of performance the project of migration by IBS company all complex of works from creation of demostend before successful testing after completion of migration was performed.

Within the project the following tasks are implemented:

• migration of 5 SAP landscapes (ERP,BW,HCM,PO,SM) with change of DBMS and operating system from DBMS the DB2/OC AIX configuration on SAP HANA Linux x86_64 DBMS/OS;
• updating of the version of SAP SM with 7.1 to 7.2;
• transition with physical to a cloud computing architecture;
• transition to in-memory technology for DBMS.

Works were performed using modern tools that allowed to minimize time of unavailability of the migrated systems and to provide the continuity of the main business processes Russ Outdoor. Thanks to it migration took place imperceptibly for final business users,

Migration with change of DBMS and OS noticeably increased performance of the Russ Outdoor systems. It allowed the customer to continue operation of the existing systems instead of search of other solutions.

This project completed implementation of a strategic initiative on full translation of physical infrastructures in a virtual private cloud. Using IBS company we managed to reduce costs on the maintenance of SAP infrastructure more than for 30% to increase flexibility, performance, scalability and also to prolong lifecycle of the SAP solutions ERP, SAP BW, SAP HCM,

For September, 2019 the service center IBS supports all SAP circuit of Russ Outdoor and answers for administration, performance and operability of business applications of SAP. In the field of responsibility of the center and support of a backup system, level of operating environment and functionality of SAP Solution Manager.
