As the representative of STM Holding (Sinara - Transport Vehicles) told Vedomosti, in particular, in 2023 it is planned to ship 23 five-car trains. Earlier, Russian Railways bought 145 cars of Lastochka electric trains, in 2022 it is planned to purchase 28 trains, or 140 cars, of which the manufacturer has already supplied 18 trains, a representative of the state monopoly explained to the newspaper.

The previous version of the Russian Railways investment program assumed the purchase of Swallows only in 2023 and for less than 1 billion rubles. But in the next two years, Russian Railways was going to spend just over 20 billion rubles on high-speed trains. Now these plans have been abandoned, follows from the document with which the newspaper got acquainted in September 2022. According to a source familiar with Russian Railways' investment plans, the monopoly refused to purchase trains for the high-speed highway in the current geopolitical and economic situation.

The total investment program of Russian Railways for the next three years may reach a record 4.4 trillion rubles, of which 1.23 trillion rubles are planned to be invested in 2023, 1.5 trillion rubles in 2024 and 1.66 trillion rubles in 2025.

"Swallows" are built on the basis of the Siemens Desiro electric train. The Russian subsidiary Siemens served trains. In early March 2022, the company left the Russian market due to sanctions against Russia. By September 2022, the geography of operation of Lastochek covers about 30 regions of Russia, as well as the international route Moscow - Minsk. Trains have been produced in Verkhnyaya Pyshma since 2014.[1]
