2024: Launch of the Instrument and Hardware Lifecycle Management System

Holding "Russian Space Systems" (RKS, part of the State Corporation "Roscosmos") as part of the transition to streaming production continues digital transformation and begins the next stage - the introduction of a system for managing the life cycle of devices and equipment. The solution will optimize technical and speed up organizational processes, combine the production facilities of the holding into one digital ecosystem, as well as reach the necessary level of production of equipment for the streaming production of satellites. This was reported to the RKS on October 15, 2024.

For space instrument making the key process is the production of instruments and equipment for the production of spacecraft. And implementing a system that allows us to digitize this complex and time-consuming process is a necessary step towards reducing product design time and minimizing engineering errors.
said Dmitry Lepeshkin, director of information technology at RKS.

As of October 2024, the holding adapts and integrates software into the existing infrastructure and production processes, trains employees, works out the creation of design documentation and the first pilot products, and actively develops solutions for technological preparation of production for the introduction of a new unified digital environment for design and planning.

Taking into account the specifics of the instrument-making holding activities related to the development and production of complex space equipment, an industry IT solution is created that will combine the two key systems for creating devices and equipment - electronics design and product data management. Thus, RCS specialists in a single information environment will be able to work with a centralized library of regulatory reference information, in an automated mode they will form and coordinate design documentation, manage the composition of the product and its versions.

As of October 2024, the system is being introduced and tested at the holding's parent company, Russian Space Systems JSC. In the future, it will be introduced in all enterprises included in the instrument-making holding RKS.
