The Unicredit bank builds the corporate data warehouse

The UniCredit Bank builds the uniform data warehouse on the SAS platform, the press service of bank reported on April 5, 2013.

Solution

The first module of the corporate data warehouse on the SAS platform is accepted in operation at the end of 2012. It provided the reportings of finance department and management of factoring given for preparation and also for implementation of projects, important for bank, in the field of operational CRM in a corporate client segment and in the field of counteraction to laundering of illegally gained income. Creation of "the uniform version of the truth" for business users and gradual transfer of processes of preparation of the corporate reporting from separate information systems on the uniform corporate data warehouse became important result of implementation of the data warehouse.

"Thorough investments into the first module of storage allowed us to receive a powerful and scalable solution on the SAS platform, – Diego Rampoldi, the director of the department of information technologies of UniCredit Bank noted. – Now we expect to return invested funds due to operational implementation in bank of a number of profitable business projects. Creation of similar infrastructure requires time and high professionalism, but these efforts already pay off as these storages are already used by many divisions of bank, and their number quickly grows".

Preliminary results

In business divisions, thanks to data from storage, the labor input already decreased and terms of preparation of a number of reports were reduced. Considerably the quantity of errors at creation of reports decreased, and their placement on the corporate BI portal expanded a circle of the business users having to them access.

Important factor of influence on success of the first project phase - the involvement into work of representatives of business departments, their enthusiasm and ability to find balance between requirements and project restrictions – terms, the budget and legal aspects.
